Cheers to you all!!!! Winter After School Program at Top Of The World has come to an end for the Garden Club. Our Spring Session enrollment is open to 1-5th grade students and our Spring Session starts on March 28th. Online class enrollment ends on March 22nd. Today students enjoyed a hand picked organic garden salad with limon dressing and pasta made from our organic bell peppers and tomatoes. From Seed to Plate! Congratulations @lbschoolgardens primary garden students! Yesterday our kids harvested their first crop of the season, RADISHES! During their first lesson, Grades 1-3 learned how to plant seeds using a square foot sheet of newspaper. Mrs. Hosakawa's class followed up with a wellness check on seed germination and weed control. "Kids Can Compost" was so much fun! Thanks to Lisa Ryder from Waste Management and the City of Laguna Beach for hosting an awesome compost demonstration yesterday @lbschoolgardens 🐛🌱 Every student got a chance to make their own worm compost hotel to keep composting at home. How to make your own compost hotel: 1. Use an empty tennis ball can 2. Fill about 1/5 of the can with potting soil 3. Add composting food waste 4. Include a few composting worms 5. Add strips of newspaper 6. Keep inside of can moist by adding a little water.
