🥜My top 3 “be careful” foods. - 🥜There have been a couple of traps I have fallen into. Sadly every time I fell it was too late there was no way to take it back. Oh y'know, the type of trap where there happens to be some nuts at home and I start eating by the handful cos "nuts are healthy" right? Or the time where I thought I could eat as much avocado as I wanted cos it's a natural whole food. - 🥜That's right! It's still possible to gain weight off "healthy" food. "Healthy" doesn't automatically mean you can just stuff yourself silly. It doesn't mean you should avoid them, no no. It just means you should be mindful when eating them. - 🥜Foods like...: - 🥜1) Nuts. Every type of nuts. Generally 100g of any type of nuts is around 650 calories. Yep not a typo. 100g is basically 2 to 3 handfuls (my hands) and 650kcal is basically 3 bowls of rice. I remember my teenage years where we'd randomly have a huge bag of nuts at home, and I always loved it cos it meant "snacking on healthy food" which meant that huge bag never lasted more than 3-4 days. - 🥜I'm in awe right now math-ing out how many calories that was. And that wasn’t filling AT ALL. - 🥜2) Avocado. Oh avocados, how I treated you like any other fruit. I thought you were in the same family as melons because of your color. I thought we were friends cos I thought you were best friends with salad, and salad is so so low in calories (without sauce). But of course not right? And here at home you have to be extra large in size. - 🥜Half a normal avocado is about 160ish calories. Some days before I'd have 2 avocados for breakfast cos "why not?". And why not? Cos that's an instant 640kcal! that's like 9 slices of bread! - 🥜3) Eggs (with yolk). I was so thrilled to learn that the whole cholesterol issue was a myth, I still couldn't go all out with eggs cos the calorie sneaks up on you. An egg is about 75kcal each. Doesn't sound like much right? I can eat 3 eggs before I form a sentence in my brain and suddenly that's 225kcal. And if I do that again in the afternoon that's 550kcal. - 🥜550kcal is like, one hearty bowl of ramen! - 🥜What foods get out of control easily for you?

🍑“What are the compulsory foods for daily life? - 🍑None. - 🍑There’s no food out there that we MUST have or else the fat monster injects itself into us and we start to balloon up with no control and our family and friends can’t recognize us by tomorrow. - 🍑Sorry, got carried away. - 🍑However our body does have certain nutrition needs on a daily basis. Carbs (yes carbs), fats, protein, vitamins & minerals and all that jazz. It’s unnecessary to look up the exact numbers we need as eating a diet that’s mainly made up of a variety of nutrient rich whole foods is usually more than enough. - 🍑Y’know, the whole 80/20 thing. - 🍑Make sure we’re getting some kind of protein in most of our meals, a variety of fruits & veggies does wonders, and remember to hydrate throughout the day. That’s pretty much it. - 🍑Hate oranges? Sure, have an apple. Apple also no good? Go for some melons. There’s no food that you “must have or else!” - 🍑Are there some foods that have more nutrients than others? Of course! But pick your favorites and it’s not going to matter. Eating a fruit that has slightly less nutrients than another consistently is better than eating the super nutrient rich food you hate inconsistently. - 🍑It comes back to figuring out what you enjoy the most, and sticking to it. - 🍑Weight loss, health, it’s a long long game. There’s no rush to figure everything out by the end of the day. - 🍑What’s your favorite fruit that you can never get enough of?

🍟The french fries & rice diet - 🍟It was 2013. I think. - 🍟I don’t think I weighed myself that entire year. But I know that a triple XL shirt fit kinda snug. I was having shortness of breath. I had that all along actually, but this time it felt like it was occurring more often now. - 🍟My solution? Gotta lose weight. - 🍟How? Go on a vegetarian diet. - 🍟I grew up with the notion that meat was the culprit for everything. That eating too much meat was a bad thing. That every bad feeling I had probably had something to do with meat. - 🍟Naive, i know. - 🍟I understood nothing about calories. Didn’t understand portions. Just somehow thought that if I stopped eating meat, a miracle would occur and I would start losing weight. And hopefully the weight would solve my shortness of breath. - 🍟I still loved fast food, I wasn’t gonna give up on it. Burger king has just come out with a sort of veggie burger, but it felt heavy. Instead for many meals I cooked rice from home, and bought french fries. That’s right. I ate multiple meals of rice + french fries + ketchup + chili sauce thinking that was my ticket to weight loss. - 🍟We’re laughing now, but I genuinely believed in it back then. - 🍟It gets even better, I thought not eating meat meant I could eat as much rice and french fries as I wanted. That no amount of fires and rice would make up for the amount of meat I wasn’t eating. - 🍟Thinking back now, I think I’m more astonished on how much i truly believed in it. - 🍟Fast forward a couple of weeks. I was blaming the drying machine for shrinking my triple XL shirts. Although it’s been the same dryer for the past 4-5 years daily. - 🍟The shortness of breath never got better, but never went away. I went into a ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ attitude, thinking as long as it’s not painful I’ll live with it. - 🍟And so vegetarian diet attempt #34, ended as a failure. - 🍟What was your most memorable failed diet attempt?

What if your business meetings were in your home? Based on your schedule? With a bunch of amazing babes who want to see you succeed? Honestly, with hubby gone and the weather being shitty, Wednesday nights are the highlight of my week! I grab whatever drink I feel like (tonight was hot lemon water loll) and usually get in my jammies and hang with an amazing group if women for 30-60 minutes And honestly, it doesn't always end there. These women are my community. We might not "hang", but I know that we all struggle and succeed together. When I'm having a bad day, one of them will sent me positive vibes and vice versa! We all need a little of that 😉
