🚫BBT 🚫Obsessing! I haven’t tracked ovulation at all for the past 2 cycles and it’s only by not doing it that I can see how much stress it was causing me. I’ve not obsessed over taking OPKS or when I’ve ovulated, I’ve not been setting silly early alarms on my days off to take my bbt or kicking myself when I woke up too early or too late making the temps inaccurate and to be honest I’ve found it very freeing! The first cycle we took off anyway as I had my HSG/Hycosy and this cycle I think I’m roughly about 6-9dpo ( based off previous cycles ) ⁣ ⁣ Now that we have the go ahead for IVF for later this year it’s almost taken some of the pressure off of you know what I mean? We’ve decided that we will keep taking our supplements and BD extra during around my ovulation time and what will be will be and I’m not going to stress myself ( and in turn my hubby ) out in the mean time. We’re going to enjoy each other again 😊⁣ ⁣ Probably won’t stop the urge to poas when AF is supposed to arrive, but who’s perfect right! 😂😂⁣ ⁣ Anyway, thought I would update you all. Tonight I’m letting my hair down. I went out with my fiancé and his family for a celebration, drank ALL the drinks, ate ALL the food, and acted like myself for the first time in a while. I’m beginning to become comfortable within myself, my body, and my life. I’m beautiful and strong, and I can overcome any obstacle!! I’m letting myself relax and giving myself the freedom to live! I’m always worried about consequences, doing the “right” thing, making every “perfect” choice. But being on this journey has taught me, things won’t always be perfect and I need to accept that. So tonight I’m letting my hair down, I’m giving myself time to live freely and love life FULLY. • • • • • #ttc #ttccommunity #ttcplussize #ttcyoung #ttcinyour20s #ttcjourney #ttcsisters #ttcsupport #ttcwithpcos #ttcstress #ttcstruggles #tryingforababy #tryingtogetpregnant #tryingtoconceive #plussizettc #ttcweightloss #ttcweightlossjourney #relax #letgo #positivity #positivequotes #positivevibes #strongwomen

Chronic stress puts your body into survival mode. Historically adrenalin was created when our life was in danger. Biochemically this causes our blood flow to divert from our digestive system to our arms and legs so we could run or fight.⁣ ⁣ If nutrients aren't being absorbed properly from our digestive system and our reproductive system isn't getting the nutrients it needs this can compromise our fertility.⁣ ⁣ These days caffeine as well as our perception of pressure and urgency can have the same effect on our bodies biochemically.⁣ ⁣ Cortisol the other stress hormone was historically created whenever there was a flood, famine or war. It told our body that there wasn't enough food which made us store more fat to provide warmth and nourishment to survive. It also communicated to our body that it wasn't safe to have a baby.⁣ ⁣ In our modern day worrying that the clock is ticking, stressing about how to pay for another IVF cycle and having that unbearable feeling rise up inside causes cortisol levels to rise. This biochemically tells our body the same thing >>>> it is not safe to have a baby.⁣ ⁣ If our adrenal glands are making adrenalin and cortisol they won't make any progesterone which is needed to hold the lining of the uterus in place.⁣ ⁣ It is essential to reduce emotional stress if you are trying to get pregnant. If you would like to learn HOW to reduce your stress hormones you absolutely must join us for Holistic and Empowered Fertility. ttc_no2_rainbowbaby_2019. So today marks the beginning of my fertile week this cycle AND the beg

So today marks the beginning of my fertile week this cycle AND the begin of a 3 week vacation - the timing couldn’t be better, as I blame my stress levels at work (at least partially) for not getting pregnant. My ovulation is usually spot on on CD14, but may vary to CD13/CD15 occasionally. Gonna go buy some OPK because I have to POAS 😂 and don’t want to overwork hubby 😂 and also I think of doing the sperm meets egg plan. on Friday we’re leaving for Greece for a week, so maybe this might be a vacation baby! So excited that @krystene.dipaola loves the @shawnachor book Happiness Advantage 🤗 Some real data and practical advice for living a happier life. Check it out and let us know what you think! #Repost @krystene.dipaola with @make_repost ・・・ I was inspired by Dr. Serena Chen @drserenahchen to discuss an amazing read of that inspired me. I just finished the audiobook the “Happiness Advantage” by Shawn Achor. 😊😊😊 In his book, he sites the evidence that a happy outlook can and should be cultivated. Also, he remarks that happiness confers an advantage. This means that psychologically you are more resilient when you are happy. 😊😊😊 So, being happy is often easier said then done particularly in times of stress. But, one of the many great take away messages is to focus on small habits to cultivate happiness in your life. Small measures like exercise, social support and interaction, can make us more likely to deal with disappointment, set backs, and situations beyond our control. 😊😊😊 These sound like strategies for coping and creating strength through difficult fertility treatments. 😊😊😊 I recommend this read. It’s a fun audiobook. I came away inspired to always cultivate happiness in myself and others. Sometimes, it’s just smiling. “Just relax”. How many #ttcsisters have been given that super-irritating advice? PSA to everyone not ttc: commanding that someone relaxes does NOT help them relax!! . #fertility journeys are stressful, and finding ways to manage stress in a healthy way will only help you. Not promising that it will make you get pregnant, but it will help you get through this stressful time. . Now promise that you will keep an opened mind when reading this question: have you ever tried Qi Gong? I recently discovered it through a friend and wished that I knew about it while I was in the thick of my own #ttcjourney . I especially think that it would have been an amazing thing to incorporate during the 2 week wait since it is low-impact, you can do it at home in your PJs, and it may help me keep your mind off of the waiting game. . I posted a very novice video intro and blog post of Qi Gong (link in bio) starring myself and my husband’s friend who happens to be a qi gong instructor. I’m hoping it will expose you to a healthy and free option to help support you during your journey....especially during the 2WW. Hope it helps. . And for more fertility support from some of my fav nutrition experts, make sure to check out @bumps2baby @kendratolbertrd and @the.hormone.dietitian 💗 happy fertility Friday!

CYCLE DAY 1 I learned that I have short cycles, averaging around 20 days. Which also defeats the purpose of getting my Ava bracelet.. and now making me wonder if I even ovulate. I’m planning to schedule an appointment to see where I’m at. I feel like giving up already because this journey is causing more stress. Maybe I just need more time to heal, correctly. I think from here, I’m just gonna “go with the flow”. GIVEAWAY closed! Sleeping well while ttc, pregnant, and postpartum brings on some unique challenges.  Between hormone shifts, stress, and general physical discomfort, sleep 😴 is often elusive during these times.  IMO, good sleep is not optional.  I cover specific studies highlighting the relationship of 7-8 hours of GOOD sleep and men’s semen parameters in my book Fueling Male Fertility. . I found a good 📖 article (PMID: 25458772) giving an overview about the research regarding how sleep plays a role in female fertility. Some highlights: increased sleep disturbances may play a role in women developing diminished ovarian reserve, and insomnia may result in a decrease in TSH hormone levels.  I included a chart from the study in the second image for all of you nerdy scientists 🤓 out there.  I know that dietitians looooove charts (and excel sheets). Not kidding. . Bottom line: sleep 💤 plays a role in hormone regulation and stress management.  Without good sleep, you are setting yourself up for trouble. I know with my concussion recovery my neurologist wanted to tackle my sleep before we attacked anything else. He said if I am not getting good sleep then I cant expect my body to function at it’s best. . So what can you do?  For starters, cutting caffeine ☕️ did wonders for me. I also try to not look at screens 📺 at least an hour before bed, and I make exercise 🚲 a necessity and not a luxury. . I was SO excited to get a copy of the book Eat To Sleep by @karmanmeyer !  It highlights how eating patterns may play a role in sleep. I 💗 how many of these foods are in alignment with what I recommend for fertility and🤰 , so it’s a win-win. . You can pre-order it on her website, or you can enter to win a copy!  Just like this post, follow my page @laurenmanaker_rdn and comment with a goal you are going to set for yourself TODAY to help support your sleep. Opened ‪until midnight on may 6th.‬ Winner will be notified via DM.  This contest is by no way endorsed or sponsored by IG.  Open to 🇺🇸 and 🇨🇦 residents.

Between the hot flashes, chills, sweats, and acting like I just smoked a bob-Marley sized blunt for the past three days after cutting out caffeine cold-turkey 😳, i came up with a theory. Many people are told to limit their caffeine intake when ttc and pregnant 🤰 bc of fear of miscarriage. But what if there is more to it? Aside from my overall haze and sweat/chill pattern, I will say that I have slept a solid 8 hours every night since cutting out the caffeine. And I feel less anxious than I usually do. So many people have sleeping challenges 😴 , and I am just amazed at how cutting my one morning coffee ☕️ cup has affected my sleep in such an amazing way. Maybe people should be cutting out the caffeine 100% if they aren’t getting good sleep (just a theory). Sleep affects so many hormones and we all know how hormones need to do their job for optimal fertility for men and women. Adequate sleep also affects stress level and ability to cope with stressors like fertility challenges. 😦 It’s a vicious cycle of poor sleep, caffeinating throughout the day, not sleeping well in the evening, wash, rinse, repeat! Some study results: in one study, Women undergoing IVF who racked up fewer than seven hours of sleep nightly were 15 percent less likely to conceive than those who got seven to eight hours 💤 . In another, men who slept less than 6 hours a night "had a 42 percent reduced probability of conception in any given month”. 💤 Can’t sleep? Maybe try going caffeine-free. We can detox together 😁. OR don’t quit cold-Turkey like I did. So what do you think? Is my theory coo coo?

jaclyn_harris_. The number of people that talk to me about anxiety and sleeplessness b

The number of people that talk to me about anxiety and sleeplessness because of an overactive mind is staggering. I think more and more people find it hard to sit with their thoughts, help to create a quieter mind and feel calm/present. Especially when there's any fear. I see this really commonly at all different stages of the motherhood journey. I definitely see this when women are trying to conceive, pregnancy anxiety is more common then I think women actually speak about and certainly the exhaustion that many mother's feel can lead them down the path of anxiety. Try taking a few slow breaths to move your body back to a place of calm and then get the thoughts out. Talk with a friend or if you're going over your to-do's, write them down. If it's every worst-case scenario going through your mind then come back to the present and get clear on something to focus on that you can do now. Being present in the actual moment you're in can completely shift this. Oh, and Magnesium. That's the first thing I reach for if my mind is busy and my body won't rest. What do you do to help this feeling?

jaclyn_harris_. I was listening to a podcast last week (and for the life of me I can't

I was listening to a podcast last week (and for the life of me I can't remember which one it was) and hearing them talk about the difference that intensity vs stress can have. And this really resonated with me. Stress is that feeling I have when I'm going round and round with thoughts, not necessarily accomplishing anything with those thoughts but just feeling the heaviness of them. Where as intensity I associate with action. It still can feel busy with thoughts but when it feels intense it's often when I really get the "stuff" done or when I really move forward. I think this really relates too with a lot of the heaviness that I hear women talk to me about. I often hear them describe their stress and it's heavy and occupies their time, their thoughts and their energy and it often keeps going. Where as when they're describing a really intense time, at work, at home or both combined they are often speaking of a time when they are really doing something amazing, it's big and intense, but quite amazing. Since I've listened to it and had this realisation for myself it's really helped me out. Next time when you're feeling something big, give it a try. Is it an intense time of amazing production/transformation/growth or is it a time of stress, when you're caught up in overthinking and confusion? If it's the stress feeling, then I think you need to break it down and find one manageable action to begin with. If it's an intense time, nurture yourself through the intensity and know that something beautiful may be just on the other side. What do you think? Does this resonate with you like it did with me?

One of my favourite herbs to use in clinic (and take myself 😉) is Withania somnifera, it's commonly known as withania or ashwagandha. It's one of a group of herbs called Adaptogens. That means it helps our body cope with, adapt to, resist and recover from stress. Stress, is a part of many people's every day existence. The affect on the body, mind and spirit can be seen in so many ways, too many to count. Commonly I'll use it when the stress of fertility issues is impacting on someone or maybe stress is such a big part of their life that it might be one of the factors contributing to the fertility issues. I also use it post-partum, when a mum is exhausted, depleted and lacking sleep. It supports the adrenal glands which are in overdrive at time like that. And during motherhood it's a herb that I prescribe VERY often due to exhaustion, stress, feeling pulled in every direction, low libido, that wired but tired feeling and especially when even after a good night's sleep a woman is still feeling tired. Have you ever taken withania?

Thank you to the incredibly brave Instagram fitness influencer @annavictoria and her husband for sharing their struggles with infertility and helping to break the fertility taboo. ・ Anna’s post: . Life doesn’t always go as planned, and that’s ok. Just shared a life update on YouTube ❤️ no, not pregnant. Quite the opposite, actually. . It was really hard for me to open up about this and I went back and forth for months. But ultimately I realized this is a topic that needs to be discussed more, out in the open, so other women don’t feel so alone in their struggles. . This is probably the one thing I never expected to encounter in my life, and saying it’s been hard would be an understatement. It’s been hard on me, on Luca, on our relationship, but it’s also brought us even closer together. We will get through this and we just have to trust that God has a plan. . The video is on my YouTube channel (just search Anna Victoria), and more videos are to come. Thank you everyone for your love and support, it’s because of you girls I feel comfortable enough to share this out in the open, no matter how scary it is. Thank you again ❤️ YouTube.com/annavictoria. . #fertility #ttc #ttccommunity #naturalfertility #preconception #ttcjourney #fertilityjourney #fertilityawareness #fertilitydiet #fertilitysupport #ttcsisters #gettingpregnant #fertilityfit #fertilitytips #fertilityadvice #fertilityboosters #fertilityexpert #womenshealth #reproductivehealth #ttctips #ttclifestyle #fertilitylifestyle #ttcstress #ttchelp #ttcsupport #fertilitywellbeing #ttcwellbeing #tryingtohaveababy #fertilityproducts
