Where ever you are in the world there will be always something you miss from a place you have had a connection with. Or if you are like me, you’ll be dreaming of your next destination. How do I not let the missing consume me? Being present. Noticing the now. Being right there in the present moment. Being mindful. It’s hard to not let our thoughts consume our minds that’s why so many of us (including me) seek distraction - Phones. Social media. Netflix etc. The most valuable tool is (and the hardest) is learning to be an observer of your thoughts. And to know that you are not your thoughts, trying to silence your mind more. As you’ve probably already noticed if you follow my stories, mango is my favourite fruit ✨ Majority of my mornings have started with 2-3 mangoes and I’m in heaven every single time 🤤 (fact: my favourite mango in Bali is called Harum Manis). Even though it maybe seems like I only eat fruit in my stories I always aim to get in my greens and eat a varied healthy vegan diet every day 👍🏼 (fruit is still super healthy and loaded with vitamins & minerals) 9/10 times we cook something from my recipe app for dinner and recently the curries/one pots with rice have been our favourites! Do you have a sensitive stomach? Lately I’ve experimented a lot with food combining, like combining different food groups for better digestion. For example, fruits are best eaten by themselves because they digest super fast (within 20 minutes), watermelon should be eaten totally by itself because that digests even faster (like 10 minutes). If we combine like 🍉 and 🍌, the watermelon wants to rush through the body like a racer car but the banana is there and forces the watermelon to slow down. This can cause the feeling of bloating and/or gases. Cooked food like grains take up to 4 hours to digest. Therefor, IF you have a sensitive stomach (like I do), it is a bad idea to eat fruit directly after a cooked meal. I have been experimenting a lot and I know the difference, it’s not a nice feeling 😅🤰 BUT I have noticed (and some other people) that fruit is fine with some grains like rice and oats, I don’t feel any bloating after oatmeal with fruit for example! 💃🏻You can dig much deeper within food combining but I’m not going into that now, maybe I will make this into one of my YouTube videos! . . . #plantbaseddiet #plantbasedfood #highcarb #plantbasedprotein #veganbali #veganbreakfast #plantbasedbreakfast #hclf #veganrecipes

Fruit gives you energy, it is rich in antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and fiber, it is good for your skin, super easy to digest on its own, it hydrates you and it tastes amazing. When you’re travelling you see and experience so many beautiful new places, some of which are almost too beautiful to be true. One of those is Nusa Penida. The first photo is the INSANE view walking down the stairs carved into the cliff, to the white sandy beach below and you wouldn’t be wrong in thinking I’m in paradise. The next photos are the sad reality of what I was met with when I reached paradise. The beach was littered with everything from plastic bottles, bags and straws, to plastic hair clips, toothpaste tubes and even a needle which I very nearly stepped on 😫 One of the things I’m finding difficult about travelling is how to keep my single use plastic down to a minimum. I’ve got my @chillysbottles with me but there isn’t always drinking water available, I use my @turtle.bags for my shopping and I’ve got my @zerowasteclub bamboo toothbrush. But being on the move constantly in places that might only have one shack selling everything wrapped in plastic is proving a lot more difficult than I thought 😕 If anyone has ever successfully travelled waste free, pleaaase get in touch! 🌏♻️ And for everyone else, there are so many small changes you can make to reduce your single use plastic consumption, from the items I mentioned above to an @ecoffeecup, bamboo/metal straws (I bought mine in Bali but there are loads on the market), @organicup menstrual cup, @lamazuna toothpaste, saving your old jars and using them at zero waste shops, using bars of soap rather than plastic shower gel, get some reusable vegan food wrap rather than cling film, use a bamboo face cloth and coconut oil to remove make up instead of make up wipes.. the possibilities are endless! 💚 A great book recommendation to help get you started is ‘No. More. Plastic.’ by @martindorey who founded #2minutesolution

I craved a poké bowl and since every poké bowl I’ve spotted here contain fish, I made my own 🤓 It came out damn good!! The nori sheet sprinkle gives a fishy flavor and iodine (important mineral for thyroids). The cucumber is wonderfully fresh and crunchy in contrast to the soft rice and marinated tofu 👌🏼 Btw, red cabbage and coriander are extremely healthy for you! Let’s learn to ask ourselves better questions. Because when challenges come, how easy is it to ask... why me? To feel helpless, to wallow in a space of self pity, to drop straight into victim mentality. We’ve all been there, and that’s ok. The only problem is that this mindset pushes us further into our problems. We’re more in control than we think, but we can only see this when we allow a perspective shift. To realise that life’s job is to trigger us, to show us the things we still need to work on, to teach us what we still need to learn. And when we accept this perspective shift, we realise that the challenge has the potential to lift us higher than we ever were before - but only if we’re open to viewing it that way!

If you try durian make sure it’s ripe (sweet) and not too ripe (gross) 👍🏼 Anyway, this was our fruit hall. Lots of bananas and papaya to freeze for smoothies and pineapple as oatmeal topping (new obsession). I don’t like visiting the same cafes twice on holiday, especially when there are sooo many amazing ones in Bali, but when you find yourself lucky enough to be staying next to @theloftbali, you have to take advantage of the situation and go 4 times 😂🙈 This time I went for the trusty old avo on toast and green tea.. simple but effective 😝🥑

So along side this pic of an amazing burger I had in Bali, here’s a ramble about my feelings for going home 👇🏻 • In about 24 hours I’ll be leaving for the airport, to get to a plane that will take me home. 30 hours of travel by flight and then train, before I see my family. And I suppose it’s all a bit overwhelming really. Because for me, day to day life is traveling now - it’s what I’m used to. New impressions and adventures and encounters every single day. Having 5 outfits in a one bag. Having one backpack containing your life. It’s something else you guys. A pretty exceptional experience. And I think everyone needs to do this, at least once. It really pushes you, and it makes you realise just how much you actually can handle. How much potential you really have. It empowers you. And that’s why I’m not scared to go home (perhaps just a little), because I know what I have inside of me. I know I will have no problem getting a job and making back all the money I’ve exchanged for experience back. I know the people who I want to keep close, the relationships I want to build. I have a hum about my future. And even though I still don’t have any concrete answer on what I “want to do with my life”, I’ve come to realise that it doesn’t matter. Because no one really knows, we are all just trying to lay out or own path, one tile at a time. 👣 Most of all, I know this - Life is exceptionally extraordinary when you choose to do what you’re heart is telling you. And with a positive mindset, you can bring pretty much any experience or encounter you want into your life. Life is a curious thing, filled to the brim with magic. And life is always happening for you, not to you. When bad things roll around, it is only to teach you. Growth is a constant thing. And perhaps the most wonderful magic of all ✨ We should all try to see the magic a it more, it’s always there, even in your morning coffe ❤️ 3,5 months of travel. Of growth. I will forever be grateful for this experience. And thank you, to all of you who send me messages, cheering me on, telling me I’ve inspired you, or simply to tell me you enjoyed following my journey - I am so thankful for you ❤️ (Continues in comment👇🏻)
