Throw back to 01/01/18 when my fitness journey was centered around weight training. ⠀ I may have tried almost all kind of workout under the sun, but my goal is still the same: burn my lower body fat.⠀ I am now happy because I finally found the workouts and nutrition that work best for my body type and me. I am losing fat in my lower body area without bulking up.⠀ ⠀ What I have learnt so far is, sometimes it is best to go down the less walked path, even if it means walking alone! Why did you start your fitness journey?⤵️ ____ My daily routine when waking up is to motivate and refocus myself. And one way I do it is to ask myself why I started my fitness journey. ⚡️One obvious reason of why I started my journey is that as a fashion model, you need to be in a good and healthy shape. - ⚡️But most importantly, I started training because I love the aftermath feeling I get. - ⚡️I started training because I wanted to see what I could achieve if I dedicate myself to it. - ⚡️I started eating healthy because eating otherwise was not an option for me anymore. Most of the time, ➡️I would go for the Zoodle because I want something quick and easy to digest. ➡️But if I feel like getting more fiber (especially when I am stressed), then I would definitely go for the whole-wheat pasta. ____ Either way, it is a win win. Yesterday evening while I was eating 😋, I realized that I never really showed you what my dinner typically looks like🤭, so I decided to share this with you.🤗⠀ ⠀ I usually try to eat really simple and balanced 🧘🏽‍♀️ . Simple because I want to go easy on my body, so that instead of it spending the whole night digesting, it can also focus on regenerating body cells that need so.⠀ ⠀ So my dinner is usually made of healthy and simple vegetables solely. Here you have avocado 🥑 as my healthy fat , and a set of vegetables with pasta.⠀ ⠀ And you know what is the kick of all this? The pasta is also made of vegetables only! Petit pois to be precise! When in doubt about what to have for breakfast, always go for fruits. There might be full of a lot of (good) sugar, but it is still better than cereals or processed breakfast food. ____ I have been having fruits only for breakfast and I am loving so much the way it makes my body feel! ⚡️ Types of Eat/Exercise Combinations⚡️ 🌼 Hello my lovely people!🤗 I hope you are having an amazing start of day! 🌼 Yesterday I started telling you about the 3 different ways people usually go about their fitness journey. 🌼 Let me know in the comment section if this first combination is what you have been following. 🌼 •Eat more, Exercise more• 1) Sustainable in term of your health ____ 2) Promote lean muscle gain ____ 3) Eating more carbs (especially starchy carbs will provide you with the necessary fuel for a good performance when working out. ____ 4) You will gain muscle at a higher rate than fat. ____ 5) If this is what you are doing then your eating routine looks something like this: 3 meals, 2 protein shakes, all while following a 40:30:30 ratio (carbs:protein:fat) ____ 6) Exercise routine: 3x a week high intensity/strength/weight training + 5x a week 1hr steady run at 10-11kph. 🌼 Speaking as someone who has personally tried this combo (and the picture can speak for itself), I can attest that I can attest that you actually build a lot of muscles. I was leaner and stronger. My waist:hips ratio was proportionate (not that I lost any hips, I rather gained cm around my waist due to muscle gain). However, as a fashion model, it was not exactly the body I was looking for. ⚡️Small changes that your future self will thank you for.⚡️ Hi my lovelies. There is a proverb that says “sharing is caring”. So i thought it would be a nice idea to share with you the small changes that i have been making that have helped me progress with my fitness journey. If you are like me, determined and motivated to achieve your fitness goals, then i believe you will not mind making these changes. ____ ✖️I cut down my carbs intake ____ Certains carbs are entirely made of starch. This is not good because this starch is then converted to glucose which in its turn is turned into fat. examples of such carbs are pasta, bread and other food made from refined flour. Since my prime goal was to burn fat, i thus had to cut down my carbs intake. I did it progressively, so that I wouldn’t binge eat down the line. When i was comfortable and had enough self discipline, i completely removed it from my diet. Focusing only on healthy carbs. I started swapping pasta for zoodles (zucchini pasta) for example. I included a load of vegetables to my nutrition, and don’t forget about the fruits! they became my staple food for breakfast. ____ If you would like to start shifting to a healthier you, then start replacing progressively bad carbs with healthier ones. When people think of fat, they usually think of it in a pejorative sense. I know it to be true because I used to be of those thinking that way😅.In fact, there was a period in my fitness journey where I was sticking to an extremely low-fat diet🙄. But then I came to realize that not all fats are bad for you; some are beneficial for your health and can even promote better living. Fat is essential to any healthy lifestyle. As such, including healthy unsaturated fats (such as avocado, olive oil, or nuts for example) in your diet can make all the good difference. Indeed fat is not only a good fuel source for your body, but it also facilitates the absorption of vitamins A, D, E, and K. Here are some benefits of healthy fat consumption: 1️⃣ healthy body consumption (your body fat percent will start regulating itself, along with muscles mass and so on) 2️⃣ Promote healthy fat loss. If you put healthy fat in your body, it doesn’t feel the need to hold onto its existing fat. 3️⃣ Immune system booster 4️⃣ healthier and glowy skin 5️⃣ build lean muscles As long as one is consuming healthy fat, all he/she is doing is just providing their body with the right tools to function better and enhance their fitness journey. It is up to you to start eating healthier and to stick to it. ____ The process might be painful or discouraging at time; there might even be some setbacks. But down the road, you will realize it was all worth it. ____ You won’t lose weight unless you put in the hard work. You won’t get leaner unless you put in the hard work. ⚡️Motivation⚡️ You can achieve anything you set your mind to. You just need: ➡️to have the burning desire to do so. What would be your fuel? What would push you on a daily basis to achieve your goal? Find out by doing an introspection. ▪️ ➡️A clear vision of what you want to achieve. You want to get stronger or leaner? Then sit down and envision yourself as being just that. And hold onto that vision. It will keep you going every time you feel like giving up. If you can’t generate an image then find a girl/man who inspires you, someone who has the body you would like to achieve. Look at their picture of IG for inspiration, motivation before hitting the gym. ▪️ ➡️motivation and determination for sure. ▪️ ➡️self discipline to avoid falling off track one too many time. It is okay to side track. It happens to the best of us. But you need to make sure it doesn’t happen too often. This is where motivation and determination to succeed come in. You got this💪 Remember, no excuse will ever get you what or where you want, unless you put I the work. You are the one in control, and it is time you actually take action!

⚡️Stay Committed ⚡️ ____ I have a lot of people asking me how to stay on track of their fitness journey. And the only word that could best describe staying on track is COMMITMENT.💪 _____ How many times have I felt like giving up on my goals and just go back eating whatever and not training at all? 🌼 In fact with winter coming and the weather becoming colder up here, it has become even harder for me to keep on going to the gym. I’d rather Netflix and chill lol😂. 🌼 But you know what? When I think of how far I have come, or what goals I promised I would achieve, That need to chill and eat just disappear. ⚡️How I Stay Healthy when Busy⚡️ Hello my lovely friends! I hope this new week started on high notes for you!💫 ____ Me myself I am getting busier as I have many different deadlines to meet. In fact it can sometimes get to a point where I can’t even cook a proper and healthy meal😩. And I know I am not the only person in this situation. You might have all the good intention to stay on track with your fitness journey and healthy eating lifestyle🏃🏽‍♀️💪, but how do you do when you get home tired just wanting to eat something in the next (max) 10min? ____ My tips are the following: 1️⃣ you could meal 🥘 prep all what you are gonna eat for the next 5 weekdays on Sunday. Or 2️⃣Keep as many “easy to cook” ingredients 🌶 🍅🥦🥑🥕🍆as you can in your fridge and in your pantry. By doing so, you prevent the urge to buy a junky take away on your way back home. ____ This veggies pasta took me about 10min to cook. I cut all vegetables in acceptable mouthful size, threw it all together in pan; added a tbsp of olive oil and let it cook for 5min. Then after I added the pasta. This pasta is grain free, 100% made of vegetable and fresh, allowing it to be cooked in 2-3min. Is it worth it? I hope this new week started on high notes for you💪 ____ Last week I sent a serie of pictures of me to my mom (because it has been a while since I haven’t been back home). And one of the comments that she made (which warmed my whole body) was “you look so radiant, happy and healthy!” I later asked her what she meant by that and she told me she was a bit worried when I told her I completely changed my way of eating to focus on eating simply and mostly fresh vegetables and fruits. And she is so amazed to see how this eating lifestyle is doing good to me ____ Her praises for my new eating lifestyle were so heartwarming me that it encouraged me to keep on going on this path, even though it is the less walked one. _____ Eating simply is not about eating less or even restricting oneself, but rather about eating better and abundantly fresh produces, and about good food combination. _____ By eating simply, you achieve a lower fat percent on the long run, toned body, healthy and radiant mind. Hello guys! I am finally back to be more consistent with my posting💪👯‍♀️⠀ ____⠀ I finally understood why a lot of people struggle to keep an healthy eating lifestyle when life gets busy🤭⠀ ⠀ The past 2weeks have been extremely hectic and stressful for me. Everything was happening at the same time and I had to keep up or give up. ⠀ ⠀ I will be honest, it wasn’t easy at all eating healthy consistently. At time I would just grab whatever I happen to have close by (which most of the time was either junkish 🍫🍪or corn 🌽crackers). ⠀ ⠀ Over the past weekend, I stopped for a moment and pondered over the whole situation. I came to realize that eating healthily doesn’t have to be complicated. I mean, that’s how I have been eating for the past months right?⠀ ⠀ Small changes were to be made, or rather should I say remembered:⠀ 1️⃣ Eating simple is key: I made the meal above in less than 5min. So no excuses to not eat healthily.🥗🍲 ➡️ is your body worth you investing 5min for a healthy meal? I think yes!⠀ ⠀ 2️⃣ when in doubt of what to have for breakfast on the go, think DATES: dates are full of nutrients and simple sugar that will help you go about your day with all the energy you need! ➡️ fruits such as apples 🍏or bananas 🍌 are also a good option ⠀ 3️⃣ Nuts 🥜 are always a good option if you have no time at all ( and I mean no time for real) to grab something proper to eat. ⚡️Body progress Update⚡️ ____ 6 months now that I completely changed my way of eating and the way I workout to get rid of my stubborn lower body fat, live and feel better overall! It’s been a long ride. Sometimes it was hard to stay motivated and determined to keep on going. But looking at this body update picture, I realize that all the pain and discipline was all worth it and I can’t wait to keep moving forward, and to turn this fitness journey into my lifestyle. ____ As from the 15 September, I will be setting a new fitness goal to be achieved by 15 December. ⚡️Small changes that your future self will thank you for.⚡️ ✖️I implemented a workout routine and progressively stocked to it. ____ Implementing a workout 🏃🏽‍♀️routine helped me so much. People always minimize ⬇️ the potential of a routine but the truth is, a routine is like an habit: really hard to break. If you train yourself to wake up at say 6am🕕, your body get used to it. At some point you won’t even need an alarm clock to wake you up. I did this for my morning routine, and it worked so well that i decided to implement it in all aspects of my life (including my workout recurrence). ____ Once you make working out a habit, you are more likely to do it every day. I heard that it takes 21 days to build an habit and i believe it to be true. 🤗 ____ So if you are a total beginner in working out, i suggest you to start slowly and progressively. Commit yourself to workout (or do any exercise you enjoy) for 5min a day the first week and build up from there. As you get used to it, you can increase the total time you workout. At some point your body will automatically push you to do it because it got used to it. ____ People sometimes expect big solutions for big problems 😯,but the truth is sometimes it only takes a tiny solution to vanquish a big problem☺️. Maybe it will only take you 5min a day to get you to establish a workout routine and finally slay your fitness goals. But the truth is sometimes all it takes is just a little tweak to resolve a problem. ____ I was of those thinking that way. And to tell you the truth, I was a partisan of drastic changes: completely stopping eating sugar overnight, entirely cutting out my carbs intake, etc... you can see the trend (lol). But then I came to realise that small changes were more effective, progressive, healthier and durable when coming to my fitness journey. I didn't need to have big solution to get rid of my lower body fat for example. ⚡️Small changes that your future self will thank you for.⚡️ ✖️ I started working out more in the morning. ____ Hello my lovelies! I know I went MIA, but there is a good reason to it. I was in the process of moving into a new house and if you have already done it in the past, you know how stressful and time consuming it can be. I mean I didn’t even workout in the morning. Let alone cooking proper meal to share with you. But now I am back💪 with a lot of contain to share with you. Okay now onto the real post. ____ Starting to workout in the morning rather than at any other time of the day is probably one of the best change i ever did for myself. Not only does it boost my mood and energize me for the rest of the day, it has also been proven to burn relatively more fat than afternoon or evening workout.. ____ Of course there has been days where i couldn’t make it for my morning workout routine, either because i had an early morning meeting or class, being sick, or even because the weather did not allow. Those kind of events are good enough reason to skip morning workout. But if you can, i would definitely recommend you to implement this little change in your daily life. ⚡️What small change would you make today that your future self will thank you for?⚡️ ____ If I have to reply to this question, I would say adding these exercises to my workout routine. ____ It has given me the little kick I needed to boost my workout cessions. ⚡️Focus on “what is working”⚡️ Every time my workout routine wouldn’t work the way I wanted, I would start complaining and asking myself “what is the problem?”, “I am training hard, eating right, but why can’t I see my desired results?”😤🤷🏽‍♀️ ____ The problem is I was focusing the wrong end of the whole matter. Sure, by wondering what was the problem, I would eventually find it out. But would it effectively help me improve? 🤔Okay so I knew squats and weights were not a good approach for me, but would knowing it help me slim down my thighs? Not really. ____ 💡That is when I finally understood that I needed to focus on what in particular was working in my fitness journey. I got to understand that: - eating simply and clean carbs was helping me in reaching my goals - slow and steady jog is helping me into targeting that fat around my legs (it burns fat overall but my problem was the thighs, you get me) - certain types of workouts were getting me fast results. _____ So I decided to focus my effort on implementing those and everything has been going well so far. ____ Here is my simple advice to you today: Forget about what is not working and rather focus on what is working for you. Today after having done my usual daily jog (8km today yay)💃🏽, I sat down to reflect on how far I have come in term of my fitness journey (since 2011). ____ It has definitely been a learning curve for me. I encountered a lot of setbacks, side tracked a lot by following a multitude of fitness trends, and I almost gave up every time I wouldn’t get the results I was going for. ____ But all this didn’t deter me from keeping on pushing forward. I certainly had a lot of setbacks, but then again I learnt so much about my body during that time! And what I learnt helped me get where I am right now. In retrospect, I am happy I dedicated so much of my time to this journey. ____ This is a struggle I was willing to experience the pain for, because I knew the results would be worth it, both physically and psychologically. ____ I guess what I am trying to say is you need to choose your struggle. What is it that you want that you are willing to struggle for? ____ If getting fitter is the struggle you want to happily go through then accept the fact that there will be setbacks and still jump on board. ⚡️To get rewards, you need to struggle⚡️ 🌼 Are you in love with the result or are you in love with the process? You may want to get slimmer legs, toner body, lean muscles and etc... but do you actually want it? Are you willing to go through the pain of the process to reach your fancied results? If you are not willing to experience the pain of going through your fitness journey, then it is most probable that you will fail. You see, in order to achieve something, you need to be willing to sacrifice a lot of other things to get there. The same way Rome wasn’t built in one day, you best believe it is the same way your fancied body won’t happen overnight without hard work and pains. So girls, accept the fact that great results are closely linked to pain, to failures. Yes you will sometimes side track from your goal. You will have to stop eating junk food, you will have to allocate 1hr daily for your workout routine, and even completely change your lifestyle. And you know what? That is fine. Because that fitness goal of yours is just worth it. So put on your gym gear and get ready , and I mean seriously, to enjoy the process...to slay your goals and eventuallly get the results that you always wanted. ⚡️ Types of Eat/Exercise Combinations⚡️ 🌼 Last time, I started telling you about the 3 different ways people usually go about their fitness journey. The last one is “Eat Less, Exercise Less” 🌼 Let me know in the comment section if this last combination is what you have been following. 🌼 •Eat Less, Exercise Less• ____ 1) Sustainable in term of your health ____ 2) Promote fat loss ____ 3) Eating Less promote a gentle calorie deficit (this helping with fat loss) while exercising less but enough helps maintain the muscle mass. ____ 4) Eating routine: 3meals with a 10:40:50 approach (which is the typical low carbs diet) ____ 5) Exercise Routine: 3x week low intensity workout + daily general walking. 🌼 And that is it! ⚡️Save&Try this recipe! 🌼 With the heat wave currently going on here in Milan, I have been experimenting with salads, cold salads; because honestly who has time to eat hot while being hot (not the good hot 😆)🤷🏽‍♀️ So here is the recipe of my Red rice Cold Salad. 🌼 If you are looking for ways to eat salad beside the usual boring way, then give this recipe a try. It is super duper easy to make and it taste amazing🌼 —————— •Red rice cold salad• Ingredients: -50g Red rice (or anything that can replace it well) -1 avocado -1 small zucchini - 1/2 bell pepper (I used yellow) -100g of cherry tomatoes 🍅 -100g soft lettuce -100g spinach -Garlic, salt & pepper -1/2 a slice of whole grain bead (I used flaxseed bread) 🌼 Prep: • put the rice in a bowl and add twice the quantity in water. Let it sit for about 3hours. (I noticed red rice take longer to cook. So to reduce cooking that I soak it before hand) ____ • cook the rice and then set aside to cool down. ____ • dice and slice zucchini, red bell pepper and season with garlic salt and pepper. Roast it for about 10-15minutes. Set aside to cool down. ____ • dice avocado in small pieces so that when mixed with the rest it turns into creamy texture. ____ •toast the bread until it takes a “crouton” consistency. ____ •in a bowl mix cold red rice, soft lettuce, spinach, cherry tomatoes, roasted veggies. Protein Breakfast⚡️ Hello my lovely people! I hope you are having a great start of the week! 🌼 Sometimes your breakfast doesn’t need to be an elaborate one but just simple protein shake. ____ I just made mine (like literally some minutes ago) using 20g of rice protein and 20g flaxseed protein powders, all mixed with 200ml of rice milk. You could add some sweetener such as honey to the mixture if you want to, but I preferred not to add it to mine. ____ You may be asking yourself: “but isn’t rice full of carbs?”and the answer to that question is no. Because the protein of the rice was extracted to make this powder. ____ I get ask about the best timing for eating carbs-fat-protein a lot. And here is the approach that is working for me: - carbs (which are starchy carbs such as potatoes, rice, pasta and such) are best eaten either in the morning after workout or at lunch. The #at to eat starchy carbs is 2pm-3pm, afterwards the metabolism has started to slow down, and anything that contains too much energy will be stored as fat. Vegetables and some fruits can be eaten as much as one wants, anytime. 🌼 - When it comes to protein, I prey to get my daily amount of protein at breakfast and a bit more at lunch if necessary. The reason for this is because protein takes long to digest. Here are their pros and cons 🌼 Let me know in the comment section if this first combination is what you have been following. 🌼 •Eat less , Exercise more• 1) unsustainable in the long run🤕 2) it puts too much pressure on the body😷 3) you will lose muscles at a higher rate than fat. Which will create a disproportionate fat:muscle ratio. 4) your metabolism will slow down at some point 5) there will be an increase in cravings, fatigue and hormonal imbalance (especially for women) 6) you might end up gaining back all the weight you lost. Side note: this combination only works well in the short run (36hours water fasting, juice detox...) 🌼 Speaking as someone who has personally tried this combo, I can attest that it actually didn’t work. I ended up with and extremely small waist compared to my hips.
