We human are gifted with our senses to see, hear, taste, feel... but what you might see will probably not be the same of what I see. Our senses are in that way limited. When you withdraw your senses with stillness, you might enter a new space of consciousness... but it can be freaky dark out there. 🧙‍♂️ 3 M A G I C C U E S for Baddha Konasana (Bound Angle)⁠ for people with closed hips who struggle to fold forward :) ⁠- me!⁠ ⁠ 🧙‍♂️ 1) sit at the front of your sitting bones, so that the pelvis can tilt slightly forward and there is length in the lower back. If the lower back is rounding, sit on a block. ⁠ 🧙‍♂️ 2) place a brick between the soles of your feet. Inhale, lengthen the crown of the head to the sky and broaden the chest. Exhale, press the soles of the feet against the brick and gently use the elbows to help open the hips more. Repeat 2-3 times. ⁠ 🧙‍♂️ 3) remove the brick and bring the soles of the feet flat against each other. Inhale, lengthen the spine, exhale press the soles of the feet actively together as if the brick is still there, draw the belly in, hinge from the hips to fold forward.⁠ ⁠ ⁠ This is another example of utilising the marvels of our nervous system to go deeper into a stretch - I learned it from my favourite yoga inspiration and teacher @harriet_bone_yoga. Gently tensing a muscle (pressing the feet against the brick or each other) while it is being stretched sends a signal to the spinal cord via the Golgi tendon organ. The spinal cord is 'relieved' to see that the muscle is in control (engaged) and sends back a signal to allow it to relax more. With choices depending upon the level of the attendees. . I made a flow sequence from it. This is the Intermediate version - Flip the Dog and Half moon pose make it far too challenging for beginners. Obviously slower chaps. I would do two beginners versions before adding either half moon and flip the dog. . YOGA BUTT - if you are practicing yoga MUST READ THIS! . Do you know what it is? No? So it is the soft, sagging, flat butt many, and I really mean it when I say this, many yogis have. And it is a result of too much stretching and too little work on strengthening the glutes! . If you are a yoga student or a teacher for some time now, than you know this already, and if you are new to yoga than you'll thank me one day for reading this. Yoga is amazing when it comes to shaping the butt but IT IS NOT ENOUGH! . The moves we do in yoga are limited and do not target all glutes muscles as they should. Also there are much more poses that stretch the muscles, or use them totally passively than the ones that are actually requiring the active work! . This results is overstretched muscles in time, thus the yoga butt. . Is this healthy? NO! Glutes are part of our core. We need them to be able to function properly in our everyday life. If you overstretch the muscles they become week and much more prone to injury. . So what should you do? Add some movement exercises, muscle isolation exercisses and think about how you can modify some poses to do them actively and not passively. .
