Well....today is the day that I will get tested in true strength. Between my surgery consult, running kids to tests, appointments, and practices, and ending the day with an emotionally draining counseling session.....I guarantee I will be ending with a stiff drink. To add to that our day yesterday was a good one but off kilter. My dad began the day not feeling well, and we ended with 2 more members down for the count with stomach issues. I stayed up most if the night on alert with the puke bucket within reach for the just in case event. Funny, I prayed for ways to have quality time with my kids during this week off from work. This wasn't quite how I wanted to spend the night. But it's not always how we picture or expect it is it?! Plus, here in Western PA we got pummeled with hard rains and storms last night, train whistles blowing early this morning, and a dog that fell out of Logan's bed with a huge thump. Needless to say....I can't decide if I need a hug, XL coffee, 6 shots of vodka, or 2 weeks of sleep this morning. At this point...I will take all of it! Today when I need to be my strongest everything that tried to weaken me happened. And it's not even 8 a.m. I feel the attacks and said......... "That's enough!! Do you hear me? Enough! I refuse to allow anything you throw my way steer my mindset off course. I can tell someone wants to try to piss me off. But all you are doing is igniting the flame to burn your a$$ down. You are already below me you see. And all you are causing me to do is blossom into a badass woman with more faith than fear!" With that....Two workouts tackled today as I was heated up! Days 21 & 22/100.

For years I tried to manage...eating the right food, exercising, mindfulness practices, getting enough sleep, therapy...any stress reduction tactics I could try. But sometimes it’s not about managing a situation. It’s about changing the situation. It’s so hard, especially when you think you owe it to someone, or something like a job, to stay. And stay. Being grateful for the good days ✨ Being real for a second, like I alway have been with you guys. At the beginning of the year after my 5th Laparoscopic surgery for Endometriosis removal. With a surgeon who then went MIA and left me with crazy complications. I was in a very dark place. Being hospitalised with ovarian cyst ruptures every 2-3 weeks. Doctors blaming me or some another never giving me hope of treatment plans. I was feeling anxious, depressed and isolated. I had no one in my day to day that could relate. People would tell me when I got the pain not to bother going to hospital. It’s a cycle that’s so conflicting, and confusing. Then something happened, I went to japan. In japan they don’t allow medications, like condiene, or targin. It’s all banned! So I went for 2 weeks. The first 4 days were pure hell, I had full body withdrawals. Shakes and all! Then it was like someone hit a reset button on my body. My whole nervous system reset itself. The pain was still there. But my hormones were not so imbalanced. I feel happy again, the pain is there. But I am not letting it become my whole being. I decided to find things to make me happy. Like raising money for endo, and sharing this crazy world with each of you 💛✨ Lees x

I’d never really considered pre pregnancy how the different hormones during our monthly cycle might affect our exercise patterns. I just exercised as I wanted and sometimes I had better days and others felt like running through thick mud. I love this educational image from @5elementwellness sharing which types of exercise are best depending on the time of our cycle and hormonal dominance. I recently cycled 100 miles in London while in days 1-10 and felt amazing whereas I’ve recently been out towards the end of my cycle and it’s been tougher. 🌺🌺🌺 While I don’t stick to this model entirely, I can better listen to my body now and dial up and down as needed and I also keep clear of any impact a few days prior to my period and for the first day or two of it as this time of the month things feel a bit more lax and less supported down there due to hormonal shifts. I also find things are heavier for me at the time of ovulation. I LOVE CAKE! A little sugar here & there is not going to kill you, cause miscarriages, or give you cancer (despite what you might see in the headlines). In fact, a sweet treat now & then might just bring you a little extra joy 😊 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Sugar gets a bad rep, & with some valid reason – it’s ubiquitous in our food supply & most of us eat too much of it (yes, including myself). 🍩⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Sugar in the diet can be naturally occurring or added. Naturally occurring sugars are found naturally in foods such as fruit (fructose) or milk (lactose). Added sugars are sugars/syrups added to foods during preparation or processing, such as corn syrup, dextrose, honey & more. 🍪⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Added sugars contribute calories without any nutritional benefits. Excess consumption can contribute to obesity & other diseases & crowd out key nutrients needed during pregnancy. 🤰⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommend intake of added sugars to <10% of total daily calories. Therefore, in a standard 2,000 calorie diet, <200 calories should come from added sugars, which equates to ~50g/day. 🍓 It can be tricky to know how much added sugar you consume in day. Many Nutrition Facts Panels only list “sugars,” which includes both added & natural sugars. Therefore, in products that contain milk or fruit, it’s hard to know how much sugar is naturally occurring vs. added. However, with the rollout of the updated Nutrition Facts Panel in 2020-2021, a line disclosing added sugars will be required on food labels. In the meantime, you can scan the ingredient list of a food or drink to find added sugar. Major food & drink sources of added sugar include: soft drinks, energy drinks, candy, cake, cookies, pastries, donuts, ice cream & other dessert-type foods. But added sugar can also be found in ketchup, sweetened yogurt or cereal, sauces & more. 👇 Take a guess! How many grams do you think you consume?

Have you seen a pelvic floor physical therapist?⠀ ⠀ This is one of the first things I ask clients when working with them.⠀ ⠀ Even if you “feel fine” or aren’t experiencing any symptoms, I highly recommend all women that are pregnant and postpartum (even years later!) see a PFPT.⠀ Even just an evaluation from one can provide you with valuable information about your body. ⠀ AND having that information helps me to be able to work with you better. 💪🏼⠀ ⠀ They will assess your core and pelvic floor strength and function, and help determine a course of action if you are experiencing any symptoms. ⠀ ⠀ Unfortunately, it is not always common practice for all women who have had a baby to be referred to a PFPT until symptoms are already present.⠀ ⠀ Be proactive and ask your doctor for a referral (some states don’t require a physician’s referral) to help you set yourself for long term health and function.⠀ ⠀ P.S.
