✨ after power class this morning, my own flow felt so so good. I just can’t describe how much my practice is evolving. it’s so amazing to notice, and it’s more about the internal changes—control, awareness, full breath. . the best way I can say it is that flowing literally feels like it’s part of my body. so good. 🙏🏽 . Frog pose is my weakness, I feel so painful to do 😵😂How about you?- - Teacher: @miss_sunitha ・・・ Mixing active and passive stretches into flexibility-based poses allows for us to safely work into flexibility without compromising stability. . The first 6 poses are active stretches - stay for about 8-10 breaths each. The last 3 poses are passive stretches - stay for about 3 minutes each. . A few things to note: 1️⃣ Activate the outer thigh of the front foot and tuck the hip under. 2️⃣ In this variation, the hips move back while the tailbone lengthens down. Notice the weight on the feet, try to keep them equal between right and left. 3️⃣ The tendency is to hyper extend the knee, sinking the entire weight on the knee joint. To prevent this, keep the knee caps lifted and thighs pressing up. You may not go as low, but it will prevent collapsing into the joints. Keep both the inner and outer feet pressing down equally to support the ankles. 4️⃣ If it’s hard to balance in this pose, the palms can be on blocks. If possible, try using the tricep to press against the thigh. Tailbone lengthens down and belly is in to keep the chest lifted. 5️⃣ Knees are wide. Use the outer hip of the bent knee (like in Warrior II) to ground hips down equally. 6️⃣ Keep this active by using the outer hip of both legs to open the knees to the sides. Belly is in and tailbone lengthening to the ground. 7️⃣ Make sure the knee is in line with the hips (not forward or back!), and the ankles are in line with the knees. Then start leaning forward while maintaining the hips directly in line with the knees. As we move to passive stretches, feel free to use blocks under the forearms or forehead to get comfortable, and breath through the discomfort. 8️⃣ Wiggle the hips as close to the wall as possible but keep the lower back on the mat. If the lower back is slightly lifted, place a towel underneath. 9️⃣ Wiggle the hips as close to the wall as possible. Notice if the knees feel hyper extended, work on pressing the thighs down and tilting the hips forward while lengthening the tailbone down. . Try not to force anything, work with the breath in all the poses. Above all, be patient 😉 .

✨Creating space.✨ I’ve been thinking a lot, lately, about change. I went through some major ones last year. I’m sure we all did. Nature teaches us that change is constant. It teaches us that change is necessary in order to continue the wheel of life. Change is necessary in order to MAKE SPACE for new growth. Today I did a thing. I made space. I made A space. I made a space where I can take time to welcome change. I made a space where I can take time to heal. I made a space where I can take time to breathe. Last year, I spent the whole year in major resistance. I didn’t want the changes to come. They were painful. Now I have walked through them, the painful changes and yet, I am still here. I am still breathing. This year, I don’t plan on resisting, I plan on embracing. To everything, turn, turn, turn. 2009 was the year I finished high school and I decided to go to the architecture university in Venice. I was excited that year because I was starting something new, but at the same time I was feeling really anxious because it felt like my entire future would depend on the choices I had to make. I remember how afraid of my final high school exam I was, how difficult it was to decide which university to go to, how worried I was not to be good enough to enter that university and after that not to be god enough to finish it and fail. I remember all the feelings so well. Thinking about it now feels so surreal, and if I could talk with my old self I would just tell that girl to relax, that it is ok not to have everything figured out and that she can do much more that she thinks. #10yearchallenge #yogawithmarti

let’s talk about WHY I STARTED YOGA 🧘🏾‍♀️... as dope as the physical benefits are, my reasons for starting were purely mental! i NEEDED calmness and peace in my life ... i under went a breakup and was just over stressing ... YOGA was my safe place ! i followed Yoga with Adriene #YWA on #YouTube for a month and then flew to a #Jamaican #YogaRetreat for my BeaDay... that was my highlight! i then jumped on the mat everyday for like 3mos straight at La Fitness...it didn’t take me long to start craving MORE out of life ... i took my first yoga class at a studio and COMPLETELY transformed!!! SPIRITUALLY I became ENLIGHTENED .. MENTALLY I became STRONG ... oh em gee! I was HOOKED!!!
