Agradeça as pessoas que te trataram bem e te deram sorrisos no rosto e as pessoas ruins que te machucaram mas te fizeram reconhecer o que você não quer ser ou te mostraram como você reage a determinadas situações. Autoconhecimento é tudo. O que aconteceu só aconteceu porque você tinha total capacidade para passar por isso. Porque hoje, você é o ser mais suficiente que poderia ser. Nem mais, nem menos. Suficiente. Gratidão. ____________________________ May those next 15 days be filled with gratitude. Think about your year. Think about your achievements and your obstacles. Be thankful the good events that have given you joy and the bad ones that have brought you self-knowledge and strength to be who you are today. Finding stillness in Downward Dog for Day 1 of #hollyjollyinverters⁣ ⁣ Downward dog always takes me back to my early yoga days. I took my first yoga class when I was 17, I was a complete yoga novice and used to dread Down Dog. Every time it came up I would turn into a shakey mess, unable to hold my bodyweight counting the breaths until I could come out. Looking back, I’ve come to realise it’s the fundamental poses we regularly visit that we notice the most growth in. The poses we persevere with that teach us the most about patience and the poses we endure that allow us to transform. Moon salutations are a fun way to mix up the normal sun salutation, work on some new aspects of flexibility, and can be used to either energize the body or calm the central nervous system. This leads to a body that is more functional but a mind that is more calm and has less stress/anxiety/worry. Hold each posture for 5 deep breaths. Nothing else matters. It looks like you’re still when balance is the one thing we cannot achieve by remaining absolutely still. We have to refresh it every moment. The effort we make to center and recenter brings not only our flesh and bones into balance but also our nerve impulses, thoughts, emotions, and our consciousness 🧠🙏. Hence, we feel calm. When I first connected that to my body I’ve stopped comparing myself with others. Not just in inversions but in everything else. 🤔 Do you have a hard time 🏋️‍♀️squatting deep? Get pinching in the front of your hip when doing so? Or have pain 🤕 in the front of the hip? Then today is for you! __ 📌 Hip flexion mobility (bringing the thigh to the stomach) can be a limiting factor to squat depth just like the ankle mobility 🤸‍♀️ limitations we talked about recently. If you hit a point where you get a pinching or feel your hips 😢 can’t go farther this may be the issue. __ 📌 Similarly, if you get pinching or pain /w other activities where you bring your thigh up ⬆️ to you it may be you hit a point where you lack the range to keep going. __ 📌 With that said mobility isn’t the only thing that can cause these issues. While we can improve joint and muscular 🤸‍♀️ mobility/flexibility there are other factors like variations in hip bony anatomy that can’t 🙅‍♂️ be modified & may require you moving differently to accommodate them __ 📌 How do you figure out which is going on? I’ll touch a little on that in the next several weeks, but your best bet will be to go find yourself a good 👨‍🔬 local PT. __ 📌 How do you improve your hip flexion mobility? Well, there are both 💪 muscular and joint limitations potentially at play. Muscular limitations include gluteal flexibility and hamstrings (if knees are straight like in a 🏋️‍♀️ stiff-leg deadlift.) Joint limitations essentially refers to how well the femur moves ⬅️ back in your hip socket as needs to happen /w the motion. __ Video 1️⃣ covers an initial way to work on the joint. Also hits gluteal flexibility if you do it w/o letting back move Video 2️⃣ covers a progression for joint mobility – it puts more compression on the hip joint which makes it harder for it to move Video 3️⃣ Is another way to work on the joint limitation. This can also be good for relief if you have that front of the hip pain Video 4️⃣ covers gluteal stretching __ 📌 For hamstring limitations check my video from earlier this week. __ 👫 Have a friend who could use this? Camel pose is one of the safest back bends if you keep your hands on your hips and slowly ease into a curve. 😊It is a pose I suggest everyone use daily as it reverses our forward leaning posture created if you’re desk bound or driving or in a trade that means your arms are mostly held in front of your body. 🚶🏼‍♂️ Open your shoulders and your pectoral muscles and strengthen your spine.
