After receiving endless replies and RT’s saying, “keto works because my uncle lost weight!” I had to talk about the science. Attached to this tweet is a thread clarifying the tweet, explaining the science of why diets don’t work, why our medical system is fatphobic and provides worse care to people in bigger bodies, and why HAES is the ethical approach to health. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Here’s what I consider evidence that something like keto works: MULTIPLE published randomized controlled trials showing that a diet results in sustained weight loss at 5 year follow up. Until then, bye. 👋🏼 We have decades of research showing that diets don’t work and cause more harm than good so it would take a pretty magical diet to discredit all of that. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Also, PLEASE NOTE: I am not talking about medical nutrition therapy here. What you do to prevent, manage, or treat a disease is between you and your providers. I just hope that your providers have read the research to know that weight loss should not be a health indicator. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ THE BOTTOM LINE: Whatever you decide to do for health should feel good for YOU. If something improves your quality of life, makes you feel better, and reduces stress and pain, then good for you. Apple becomes my favourite snack especially when I took my kids out on our morning walks. ⁣ ⁣ The food portion control containers system fuels my body in a balanced and sustainable way as long as I pace myself throughout the day and stay away from the food I shouldn't eat. (cheat days are different!✌️) ⁣ ⁣ I learned how my body works when I started eating healthier and nourishing myself with the right food. Pairing up with workouts, I immediately saw the result and lost 2.5 lbs the very first week. And by the 3rd week, I have lost 7-8lbs! ⁣ ⁣ Having a healthy balanced diet is 80% to your success. Astuces : ▪️choisir une pâte brisée moins grasse que la feuilletée (vérifier qu’il n’y ait pas de sucre dans la liste des ingrédients, au mieux la faire maison) ▪️appareil à quiche : œufs (pour les protéines) + lait 1/2 écrémé et pas de crème fraîche !! La matière grasse du repas est déjà dans la pâte ! ▪️cuire les poireaux à la vapeur au préalable pour ne pas ajouter de matière grasse superflue ▪️choisir du chèvre frais plutôt que de la bûche de chèvre (plus un fromage est dur plus il est gras, plus il est mou moins il l’est ☝️🤓) . . Résultat : repas complet et équilibré, terminer le repas par un fruit !
